Detox menu to break your diet plateau!

Most diet plans lose effectiveness over time, with weight loss progress coming to a halt. This is known as reaching a plateau in weight loss. One of the best ways to break this plateau, other than exercise, is planning two days of a detoxification diet consisting of:

  • Green vegetables (lettuce, spinach, broccoli, asparagus, etc.)
  • Proteins (egg, fish or chicken, whether grilled, broiled or steamed)
  • No more than one serving of nonfat milk (4 ounces of skim milk).

During these two days you will eliminate fats, refined sugars, soft drinks and caffeinated beverages. You must always eat three meals per day of proteins combined with vegetables.

Portion size

  • Vegetables: 2 cups of vegetables (if raw) and 1 if cooked.
  • Proteins: 5 ounces of chicken or 7 ounces of fish (raw), visually the size and thickness of the palm of your hand, or 2 medium eggs.
  • Dairy: 1 slice of low-fat cheese or 4 ounces of skim milk (could be low-fat yogurt)

In addition to consuming the meals outlined above, drink the detox juice recipe below. You can split the recipe into two portions, taking one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. Also be sure to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day.

Detox juice recipe


  • 1/2 cup parsley
  • 1/2 cup celery
  • 1 medium orange
  • Cup of mango
  • 32 ounces of filtered water


  1. Blend all the ingredients well. If you want to sweeten it you could do so by adding 1 teaspoon of Stevia or Splenda.
