Sauerbraten (German Style Pot Roast): You Will Need: 1 pound of meat (beef or venison), 2 tbsp vegetable oil, i.e. sunflower, 1-1/2 cups water. 1. Brown meat on all sides in hot oil, then remove it from cooking pan. 2. Add 1-1/2 cups of water to the meat juices and bring to a boil. Stir in the sauerbraten mix and bring it back to a boil. 3. Return the meat and cover the cooking pot, then roast at low temperature for 60-90 minutes (depending on meat cut or type). Stir the gravy occasionally and turn the meat only once. Can also be roasted in an open cooking pot in the oven at 400 degrees F (air circulation oven at 350 degrees F) for 60-90 minutes.
