Stove Top: 1 serving: 3/4 cup water (or milk), 1/4 cup oats, dash salt (optional); 2 servings: 1-1/2 cups water (or milk), 1/2 cup oats, 1/8 tsp salt (optional); 6 servings: 4-1/2 cups water (or milk), 1-1/2 cups oats, 1/4 tsp salt (optional). Range Top: Stir oats into rapidly boiling (salted) water (or milk). Reduce heat, simmer uncovered and cook for 5-7 minutes. Stir regularly. Remove from heat and allow to stand for 1 minute. Stir before serving. Microwave: 1 serving: 3/4 cup water (or milk), 1/4 cup oats, dash salt (optional). For 1 serving, combine water (or milk), salt, and oats into a deep microwave-safe bowl (leaving room in the bowl for the oats to expand during cooking). Microwave on high for 3 minutes. Stir and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Remove bowl from the microwave and allow to stand for 1 minute. Stir before serving. Note: As microwaves are different, cooking times may vary.
